A visit to Chitwan National Park is an excellent supplementary program, a place of rest after a trek or expedition. It is a must-see for all visitors to Nepal who love wildlife and nature.

The wide range of vegetation types in Chitwan National Park is home to over 700 species of wildlife and a still unexplored number of butterfly, moth, and insect species. In addition to the royal cobra and rock python, there are 17 other species of snakes, star tortoises, and monitor lizards. The Narayani-Rapti river system, its small tributaries, and countless oxbow lakes serve as habitats for 113 recorded species of fish, as well as crocodiles such as the mugger and gharial

Chitwan National Park is home to 68 species of mammals. The "king of the jungle" is the Bengal tiger. The alluvial floodplain environment of the Terai region is one of the best habitats for tigers anywhere in the world.

Other notable local predators include the Indian leopard and the clouded leopard. The population of the Indian one-horned rhinoceros thrives here, with over 600 individuals.

The typical vegetation of the Inner Terai is Himalayan subtropical broadleaf forests, primarily dominated by sal trees, which cover about 70% of the park. The healthiest forests are found in the well-drained lowlands in the center of the park.

Chitwan has a humid subtropical climate, influenced by the monsoon, with high humidity throughout the year. The region is located in the central climatic zone of the Himalayas, where the monsoon begins in mid-June and recedes by the end of September. Therefore, the best times to visit Chitwan are during the spring and autumn trekking seasons.

Accommodation is available on the edge of the park at the beautiful and peaceful Into the Wild resort, located on the banks of the East Rapti River, near the village of Karsara. The program can be customized to suit your exact requirements.
